The Pledge

Hi and welcome! Thank you for being here. Thank you for stepping into Icaria.

I wanted to share a little bit about me, and I wanted to make you a promise.

I've been writing since I could hold a pencil; my grandmother used to come over on Mondays (we had half days in my elementary school) and we would write together. I love a story. I love a world that takes my mind, my heart, and invests it elsewhere.

I am deeply invested in my lived world too, don't you worry. I am the mother of two perfect kiddos, the wife of a wonderful husband, and I also work a full-time job. I understand the pulls and pushes of day to day life in this world. Which is also why I revel in a new world, a world in which health insurance, grocery prices, childcare, and the like are not the primary concern.

Empire. Majik. Power. Belief. Movement. Nostalgia. Promise.

That is why I write. And that is why I hope you will join me in Icaria. Walk the Great Stone Way. Follow the machinations of Durevin. Feel the freedom of the Lake Territories. Ache for the loss of the Fae. Experience the emotion of another world.

And now. A promise. I know the world is topsy-turvy with artificial intelligence right now. I want to know that every word here is written by me. Every word.

That said, I do use AI to build my site. I cannot code. I cannot afford a freelance engineer. I also use it to create my images. Someday I will hire an artist to create the imagery that helps tell the story. Until then, I use the tools available to me. I hope you can understand.
